TEACHER WORKSHOP
Welcome to this years first Teacher Workshop on improvisation and jazz phrasing for strings. This is a hands on workshop; teachers are asked to bring their instruments. The purpose of the Hip Hop Blues Project is to bring Jazz Studies into the music curriculum, for public school string students.
Award winning cellist-composer-conductor, Akua Dixon, will be introducing "MOTION", her new composition to get your string students rhythmically motivated! Immerse yourself in beginning jazz phrasing for string orchestra. Akua, noted for her "strings that swing", will share techniques to teach your string students how to improvise.
Get yourself "Swinging", join in and play the music in the Hip Hop Blues Collection! Meet other string teachers in the tri-state area interested in adding improvised music to their classical curriculum.
